Only the best and brightest young marketing professionals are selected for Marketing Magazine’s Top 30 Under 30 list. This year, Catalyst’s own Fil Lourenco has earned a spot on this prestigious list, and we couldn’t be more proud!
Coming right on the heels of his 2015 Search Excellence Award, this distinction recognizes Fil as one of the most innovative search marketers in the country, and for good reason. From his groundbreaking 2013 Mazda campaign to his award-winning HSBC search strategies, Fil has helped his clients rise above their competitors, placing Catalyst Canada on the cutting edge of today’s search marketing landscape.
With this recognition, Fil joins the ranks of brilliant brand managers, marketing directors, CEOs and other brilliant young marketers from some of the country’s biggest brands and agencies across Canada.
“This is a huge honour,” says Fil, “and I am both excited and humbled to be put in the same category as some of Canada’s top marketing talent.”
Despite being the single largest subcategory of digital advertising in the country, many media planners, explains Marketing Magazine, still don’t fully recognize the deep impact of search, seeing it as just another item to check off a list. According to Fil, however, “attitudes are changing.” Compared to when Fil first started his career just four years ago, clients and media planners alike “are a lot more educated about search.”
For Fil, this is a reward in itself. “I’m thrilled that in some small way I’ve helped bring search to the forefront,” he explains. “My goal is to continue to push clients to view search as more than just a line on a blocking chart.”
Fil views the awards not only as a recognition, but also as a vindication – “all those hours were worth it,” he explains to Marketing Magazine. However, none of this would be possible without his great support network: “I want to thank my team and all of the amazing colleagues I’ve had the opportunity to work with over the years who have influenced and taught me everything.”
